Ivan Eugene McKinney was born on June 7, 1935 to William and Ruth McKinney. He was the first of three boys. He departed this earthly world peacefully at home on January 12, 2025. Family and friend visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on January 24, 2025. The Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 a.m. The Graveside Service will be held the same day at 12:30 location Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery 7970 Mike Clark Rd, Keithville, LA 71047.
Ivan joined the National Guard in 1953 and retired from the Air Force as a TSGT in 1974. He received his GED right after he enlisted in the service. After retiring from the Air Force, Ivan settled in Peoria, Illinois working for Caterpillar for 8 years. He then moved back to Bossier City, LA and went to work for Goodwill Industries at the Barksdale, AFB Commissary. Ivan accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized in 2015. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Ivan loved reading National Geographic magazines, books about Steam engine trains, old war planes, and old model automobiles. His favorite TV shows were The Price is Right and Jeopardy. If you were in the room when his shows were on you better not be doing any talking.
Ivan is survived by his wife of 41 Years Betty Ann McKinney. Four daughters Diana Bernard (husband Mike) for Haughton, LA, Bridgette Davis (husband Jim) of Elm Grove, LA, Tammy Morrow of Bossier City, LA, Theresa Williams (husband Elbert) of Bossier City, LA. Three sons Robin McKinney of Shreveport, LA, Mark Morrow (wife Teresa) of Dubach, LA, and Brian McKinney (wife Kim) of Farmersville, TX. Twenty-one grandchildren, Thirty-seven great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren, many, many more loving family members and one dear friend Don Bartlett.
Ivan is preceded in death by his parents William and Ruth McKinney, one brother Sam McKinney, two sons Robin Raye McKinney and Stanley Morrow, one granddaughter Kimberly McKinney, two grandson’s Shaun Bernard and Robert Warrick, and one great grandson Quinton McKinney.
Active Pallbearers are Scott Davis, Hunter Davis, Jason Bernard, Brandon Bernard, Christopher McKinney and Travis Morrow. Honorary Pallbearers are Jesse Swallows, Hayden Warrick, Elbert Williams and Carlton Jenkins.
The McKinney family would like to Thank you all for your words of comfort, calls, prayers and cards during our time of sorrow. Also, we would like to Thank all the employees of Christus Hospice.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
