Ila Jeanne Newsom Taylor Brunson

Ila Jeanne Newsom Taylor Brunson, 78, of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away on November 6, 2022 following cardiac arrest.

The funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Boone Funeral Home, 2156 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana.  Daniel Ciufo of Chibana Church of Christ in Okinawa, Japan, will be officiating.  Visitation will be held at 1pm Saturday, November 12, 2022.  Burial is planned at Rocky Mountain Cemetery.

Ila was born in Monroe, Louisiana on January 16, 1944.  She graduated from High School in London, England and continued on to receive bachelor’s degrees in English and Political Science from Louisiana Tech University.

Ila worked as a bookkeeper for Hummingbird and King, CPAs for many years until she semi-retired and went to work for one of her clients, David Nelson.  She enjoyed reading, watching Hallmark movies, dining out with friends, traveling, and the arts.  She was actively involved in her church, First United Methodist Church in Bossier City, until the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ila is survived by her children: Robert Andrew Taylor, III (“Trey”), Daphne Laura Lynn Ciufo (married to Daniel Ciufo), Shannon Kellogg Taylor, and John Roy Brunson; by her grandchildren: Shelby Lynn Dyke (married to Taylor Dyke), Evan Kellogg Taylor (married to Keyshla), Megan Marie Taylor, Emily Laura Lynn Taylor, Ethan Robert Taylor, Anna Elizabeth Welch (married to Jacob), Leah Danielle Budde (married to Christopher), and Stellan Vaughan Brunson; and by her 6 adorable great grandchildren.

Ila is preceded in death by her brother, Bruns Newsom; by her parents, Jacque Lynn Newsom Vaughan and BW Newsom; and by her beloved step father, Clifton “Windy” Vaughan.

Our prayer is that Ila Jeanne Newsome Taylor Brunson’s life taught you as much as it taught us, her family, that you were blessed by it, and that you are a better person because you knew her.
