Howard was born in Fairfield, CA and went to join his Lord on Friday, April 26, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. Visitation is Friday, May 3, at Boone Funeral Home in Bossier from 6pm till 8pm. Services will include a Knights Templar Funeral Ritual Saturday, May 4, at First Methodist Church in Shreveport. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Ascension Commandery Section.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents Howard F. & Eileen M. Entwistle.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 29 years, Nona; two sons, Stacy and wife Jodie of Florida and Steven and wife Teresa of Louisiana; stepson, Sonny and wife Tracy of Louisiana; grandchildren Matthew, Nathan, Ashley, Jessica, Heather & Stacy, Jr.; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, brothers Allen, Terry and Jerry, and sister, Karen all of Illinois.
Howard proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1963 to 1967. He was also a lover of cars and boats, especially racing boats.
Howard retired from Endress & Hauser after 46 years. He spent most of his time as a very active Freemason. He served as Past Worshipful Master of Caddo Lodge #179 of Shreveport three times, Shreveport York Rite where he served as Excellent High Priest of Shreveport Chapter Royal Arch Masons #10, Illustrious Master of Shreveport Council of Cryptic Masons #23, and Eminent Commander of Ascension Commandery #6. Howard also served as Grand High Priest Royal Arch Masons of Louisiana, Grand Illustrious Master of Grand Council Cryptic Masons of LA, and Right Eminent Grand Commander, Grand Commandery of LA. He was also a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. In 2009 Howard was appointed a Department Commander for the Grand Encampment Knights Templar of USA. He had also received the Howard Fellows Entwistle, Jr. Award, Ephraim Kirby Award, Knight Commander of the Cross by the Grand Encampment, and in 2018 the York Rite room at the Creswell Masonic Temple was named in his honor. He was also a member of numerous other Masonic organizations throughout the State of Louisiana and nationally. He was a true friend and mentor to all that crossed his path. He will be dearly missed by his Masonic Brothers.
Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will include Past Grand Commanders of Knights Templar of Louisiana and members of Ascension Commandery #6 in Shreveport, LA.
