Helen Cox Smith (Mama Eagle) was born on July 25, 1943 in Shreveport, Louisiana. A resident of Carthage, Texas joined her Beloved Jesus on June 19, 2021.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents Felix and Eather Cox, her husband of almost 53 years Jessie; her brothers Jesse, Charles, Clyde, Claude, Carl and Ernest Cox. Her sisters Ruth Walker, Jean Spinks and Clarene Cox.
Left to cherish Helen’s memories her son Michael and wife Susan Howell Smith of Shreveport. Three grandsons, Kevin Smith of Tyler, Texas, Josh Smith and wife Stephanie; Ryan Smith and wife Kaylia of Stonewall, and six great grandchildren: Cameron, Kyzer, Wyatt, Stryker, Makenna and Roman. Her sister, Jewel Craig and husband Glen of Shreveport, along with multiple nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Helen was a devoted Christian for most of her life, and loved the Lord with all of her heart, soul and mind. She read the Word of God daily, and as a seasoned intercessory prayer warrior, she prayed often without ceasing. If you knew her, it is most likely that she prayed for you. She longed to see come to fruition Isiah 60:1-3, “Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.”
She also loved visiting with family and friends, loved cooking, loved laughing, loved to plant flowers, help her husband, shop with her sister and she never shied away from hard work; characteristics we need more of in our world today. She was amazing, and her family and friends will miss her terribly. Until our time, we know she is seeing the sea of glass, the four living creatures and hearing them say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.” And she gets to experience all of the glory and beauty with her first love Jesus, and her second love Jessie.
A service to celebrate her life will be on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Boone Funeral Home at 2156 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA 71111. Rev. Tim K. Whatley will officiate.
