Harvey Ann (Gillyard) Mims was born April 12, 1958 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late John Blade and Mary (Byrd) Gillyard Blade. She departed this life on July 28, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, Currie Coleman and Malachi (Michael) Blade, and her sister, Genevia (BaeBae) Blade.
She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church. She attended Caddo Parish Public Schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Later, she graduated from Southern University Shreveport with an Associate Degree in Business Management. She later graduated from Virginia College in Bossier City, Louisiana with an Associate Degree in Healthcare Reimbursement.
She lived a full and rewarding life. She worked many years at Commercial National Bank as an Operation Supervisor. Later, she worked at Caddo Correctional Center as a Caddo Parish Sheriff Deputy. Later, she worked at Jackson Hewett Tax Service as a tax preparer during tax season. She also volunteered as a private sitter and enjoyed helping people. Harvey Ann enjoyed visiting several local Flea Markets on Saturdays. She was a loving mother, grandmother, wonderful sister, great aunt, and true friend.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons: James A. Gillyard and wife Shenieta of Dallas, Texas; Troy D. Gillyard and wife Veronica of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; Grandchildren: Ashleigh Wilkerson, Jasmine Clark, Alexis Gillyard-Keys, Destiny Clark, Monet LaCour, Asia Clark-Gillyard, James Gillyard, Jr. , Aniya Clark-Gillyard, Arianna Gillyard, Toshiana Roberson, James Gaytan; Great- grandchildren: Reagan Shires, Aiden Barksdale, Jayden Wilkerson, Dallas Keys, Luna Davaloz, Ryan Shires; Sister: Rachel M. Byrd of Shreveport, Louisiana; Brother: Willie J. Blade wife-Laurie of Denver, Colorado; Half-sister: Estella (Blade) Franklin of Shreveport, Louisiana; Half-brother: Brady L. Blade and wife Dorothy of Shreveport, Louisiana; Step-sister: Ola Mae (Gillyard) Evans of Mansfield, Louisiana; Nephews: T’Darrell Blade and wife Darinda of Cleveland , Ohio, Marcus Blade and wife Monica of Bossier City, Louisiana, Malachi (MJ) Blade and wife Juanita of Dallas, Texas, Michael (Mike) Byrd of Shreveport Louisiana, and Daryon J. Blade of Houston, Texas; Niece: Michelle N. Washington of Shreveport, Louisiana; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
