Gary Lee “Papaw” “Pops” Weese, aged 70 years, of Doyline, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, July 8th, 2022 peacefully in his sleep while at a teacher award ceremony in Keystone, Colorado.
Visitation will be held between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM on July 19, 2020 at Boone Funeral Home in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Gary was born in Petersburg, West Virginia on November 11, 1951. He graduated from Moorefield High School and continued on to receive his Masters of Teaching Degree from Louisiana State University of Shreveport.
Gary was happily married to Barbara Ann Weese of Moorefield, West Virginia on March 11, 1971; they were married 46 years.
Throughout his life, Gary served in many different career fields, including proudly serving in the US Airforce, along with owning Shreve City Car Care. Gary was also an automotive technology teacher at Caddo Career and Technology Center and was recently elected as the Commander of American Legion Post 388. One of Gary’s most proud moments was when his school was recognized as a Top Performing automotive technology center along with him being named National Vocational Teacher of the Year. He enjoyed spending time with his students, his family, and working on the Double Bar A Ranch.
Gary is survived by his sons, Chad and Jeremy Weese; his daughter, Noel Spring; his granddaughters, Amanda Thomas and Vallie Dorsey; his great grandchildren, Colton Spring, Elaina Dorsey, and Jensen Dorsey; Cheri Weese, Jacke West, Dylan Thomas, Miguel Dorsey, Shirley Bryant and many other family and friends.
Gary is preceded in death by his beloved wife Barbara, his parents Betty and George Weese, and his brother George Weese, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Caddo Career and Technology Center located in Shreveport, Louisiana or the American Legion Scholarship Fund. The family wishes to thank Gary’s many family and friends for a lifetime of joy and happiness.
