Freda Leona Thimm

Freda Leona Thimm, "Nana", 93, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Freda was born on June 11, 1923, in Wellston, Ohio, and although she had most recently resided in Shreveport, she always considered Pensacola "home", where she has resided for 23 years following her husband, Fred's Air Force retirement. Freda was a WWII Veteran, having served in both the U.S. Army (1944-1947) and U.S. Air Force (1951-1953). She was an officer's wife, a homemaker, a volunteer, a cat lover, a best friend to many, and an avid bowler, actively serving on various WIBC, FWBW, and PWBA committees throughout her 50 year bowling career. She lived life to its fullest every day. Freda is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Fred Thimm. She is survived by daughter Tammy Durst and wife Teri; granddaughter Jennifer Dyess and husband Dalston, all of Shreveport, LA; son, Robert and wife, Sue; granddaughter Annemarie Root, all of Branchburg, NJ, granddaughter Katherine Root of Mountain View, CA: and many, many loving friends. A visitation/memorial service will be held at 10 am Saturday, November 12 at Boone Funeral Home in Shreveport. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 10:15 am Tuesday, November 15 at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola.
