Surrounded by her family, Frances Kay Burroughs passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. She was born on September 2,1940 to parents Robert & Myrtle Prince. She grew up in Shreveport with her loving and doting parents and went on to graduate from Fair Park High School in 1957. Frances opened Burroughs Bookkeeping and Tax Service in Shreveport and built the business from the ground up. She took pride in serving her many clients over the years. She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Joe Burroughs and their daughter, Deborah Kay.
Frances was her given name, but Mom and Mamaw were the names that she was most proud of during her time here on earth. She gave every ounce of her being to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with those she loved. However, if you spent any amount of time with her, you knew that her love and support was equally as strong as her ability to be stubborn and ornery.
Her family will miss the weekly calls with weather and world news updates. They will also miss the many “likes” and comments she shared on Facebook. Everyone who was anyone knew Frances Burroughs on Facebook.
Joey has fond memories of all the time his mom spent with him throughout his childhood. She always put her children and grandchildren above herself. He isn’t sure how she juggled working multiple jobs, cooking, cleaning and caring for others but he is grateful for all she did for him and Bobby. She loved like no other and he will always be thankful that God chose her to be his mom.
Bobby distinctly remembers his mom’s grace, mercy and nurturing spirit throughout his childhood. She never missed an event or an opportunity to take them on special vacations. The past two years he had the honor of taking care of her when she moved to Monroe with him & Denise. He felt it was God’s way of weaving their relationship back together and an opportunity to do what she did for him all of those many years.
The entire family has fond memories of their time with her. Those left to cherish her memory are two boys and their spouses, Joey Burroughs (Denise), Bobby Burroughs (Denise), grandchildren, Tonya Hilburn (Malcolm), Josh Burroughs (Caitlin), Hannah and Kayli Burroughs, great-grandchildren, Cavitt Hilburn, Conly Rose and Christian Burroughs and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. The family would also like to thank Sandie McBee, Frances’ long time hairdresser and special friend, who she talked to daily, and who always took Frances on weekly lunch visits. We are thankful for your friendship to our mom.
Her family finds peace and joy that she knew and accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and friend. She was surely welcomed into Heaven with well done my good and faithful servant.
Frances’ life will be celebrated graveside at 10:00 A.M. on September 13, 2021 at Lay Cemetery at Red River Baptist Church in Benton, LA.
