Floye Bennett

Our Mom, Floye Louise Morgan Bennett, 91, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on April 2, 2025. The memorial service will be held April 29th at 1:00 PM at the Northeast Veterans Cemetery in Rayville, Louisiana. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Boone Funeral Home of Bossier City, Louisiana.

Floye was born in Arkansas on September 22, 1933, to Lottie Floie and Lawrence E. Morgan. Floye was married to Stephen D. Bennett in January of 1951; they were married for 54 years. She was a long-standing member of the Summer Grove Baptist Church where she had many friends and acquaintances.

Floye worked at various jobs in the Summer Grove community, and she especially enjoyed working at the Craft Market. This work suited her as Mom had many interests and talents. She enjoyed her bible, vegetable and flower gardening, cooking, crafting, reading and walking for exercise.

Mom is survived by her three daughters, Gloria McClure (Mike), Brenda Watson and Virginia Murphy and son, Stephen Larry Bennett, three grandsons and one granddaughter, sisters Susie Sisk and Jewell Wilms and brother Lawrence E. (Buddy) Morgan.

Mom is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Jeffery Allen Bennett, a sister Jacqualyn Casto, brothers Kenneth E. Morgan and Earnest S. Morgan and many of her beloved first cousins.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Summer Grove Baptist Church. The family of Floye wishes to thank The Bradford Nursing Home for their care of our mother over the past month.
