Eugene Owens

Mr. Eugene Owens passed away peacefully on November 25, 2022 at Heritage Manor Stratmore . A funeral mass for Eugene will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at St Joseph Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery East.

The family will receive friends at Boone Funeral Home between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM, Monday, November 28, 2022.  A Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM. 

He was born in Chopin, Louisiana on April 5, 1940. He served as a cook in the Louisiana Army National Guard and he was a barber for many years.  He retired from Morris Dickson after 33 years.  He was a devoted Catholic.  He loved to travel and cook for family on holidays.  He had a special love for animals especially his dogs Shep and Sam.

Preceding Eugene in death is his dear friend, Maverine Autry; mother, Virginia Moreau; sister, Gertrude Owens Ellers; niece, Janice Midkiff Haynie; and Maverine’s son, Dwayne Autry.  He is survived by sister, Mable Owens Midkiff; daughter, Angelique Smith; nieces, Sharon McGee and husband Jim, Teresa Disiere and husband David, Kay Murphy and husband Pat, Julie Walsh and husband Doug; nephew, Chuck Ellers and wife Michelle; extended family, Janice Denmon and husband Robert, Franklin Autry and wife Jewel, Utah Autry and wife Ruth, Martha Madole and husband Richard, and many great nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers will be Richard Madole, Samuel Haynie, Chuck Ellers, Pat Murphy, Jr., Patrick Murphy, III, and Chad McGee.

The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Manor Stratmore and Life Path Hospice for taking such good care of Eugene Owens when he was sick.
