Dovie Burton

"MayMay" Sulphur Springs, TX - Mrs. Dovie Irene Burton, 80, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on August 3, 2007. Born in Finley, OK, she spent most of her life in North Louisiana. She was a resident of Benton and member of Cypress Baptist Church for many years before moving to Texas. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Otto A. Burton, parents Tavy and Melinda Dozier and daughter-in-law Katherine Burton. She was the devoted mother of Jerry Burton, Judy Burton, Mark Burton, and daughter-in-law, Teri Burton. Cherished grandmother to Tracey and Jerry Ryals, Robby Hand, Amy and Jamey Adkison, Jennifer and James Lee, Jeff and Joannie Burton, Joey and Kalie Burton; Great grandmother to Meagan Haskins, Morgan Hand, Blake Hand, Jimmy Adkison, Caleb Hand and Jeremy Hand; Great-great grandmother to Nathan Haskins. She was known to all that met her for her gentle and caring spirit. Other than her family, her passion was quilting. Her love and comfort will always be with us as we wrap ourselves in these hand-stitched quilts. A special thanks goes to all at Hospice of East Texas, especially Dave, for the gentle care that they provided to our mother. Service will be held on Monday, Aug. 6 at 1pm at Boone Funeral Home, 3903 Meriwether Rd. Shreveport, LA. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Sunday, Aug. 5 from 6 to 8 pm.
