David Clinton Connell, Sr.
Shreveport, LA Funeral services for Mr. David Clinton Connell, Sr. will be held Monday, December 17, 2012 at Boone Funeral Home, 3903 Meriwether Rd, Shreveport, LA. Visitation will be at 9 AM and the Funeral at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Smyrna Cemetery.
Mr. Connell was born on December 24, 1924 in Longstreet, LA and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 14, 2012. He was 87 years old. He was a lifelong resident of Shreveport, LA.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Shirley Wooten Connell, 2 sons, David C. Connell, Jr. and Raines Allen Connell, 3 daughters, Sally Ann Roach, Linda Kay Vickers and Husband Rob and Kisiah M. Connell Rusch and husband Corey, 2 sisters, Martha C. Harris and Marie. He has 10 grandchildren and 18 grand-dogs! He has 21 Great grandchildren and 4 Great-great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Allen Burt Connell and mother Myrtle Iva Wilson Connell.
In his lifetime, Mr. Connell proudly served his country in 3 wars, WWII, Korean and Vietnam as a Navy plane Captain, otherwise known as a Flight Engineer. He earned his wings and 3 stars for 3 different campaigns, Letters of Commendation from Admiral Nimitz for 2 Fleet Missions and Presidential Citation for taking the aerial pictures used by the U.S. warships to take back Midway Island. Once he fulfilled his Navy obligations, he joined the Air Force Reserves and work for S.A.C. at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, LA. When he finished his military career, he went on to other job adventures and finally retired as an insurance agent from AFLAC.
He loved the Lord and his family with all of his heart. He never met a stranger he didn?t leave with a smile, a handshake, a tip of his hat and a kind word. He was a blessing to all who knew him.
