It is with great sadness that the family of Danny Lee Graves announces his passing. Danny was born on July 10, 1947, in Star City, Arkansas, and passed away on September 18, 2024, at the age of 77, surrounded by his family. The family is filled with sorrow yet finds comfort in believing that he is now healed and at peace in his heavenly home. His absence will be deeply felt, but the love and memories he leaves behind will endure.
Danny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and devout Christian; he always put his faith above everything else, which speaks volumes about his character and the type of person he was. Danny was a member of Bellaire Baptist Church. He served in the Army reserves and worked many years as a wireline operator in the oil field until his illness. He spent many years coaching his son and many others in sports. He loved hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He also helped at Apollo Elementary, where his wife worked.
Danny Lee Graves is preceded in death by his parents, Curley and Nellie Graves, as well as his sisters Pauline Stover, Joyce Graves, Zula Weber, Laverne Lee, and brother Richard Graves. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Vickye Long Graves; daughter Kelli Graves Renwick and her husband Nathan from Bentonville, AR; son Lee Graves and his wife Chelsea Graves from Bossier City, LA; sisters Jeanie Hefner, Linda Henderson, and Carol Burns; brothers Clarence, Jack, Gary, Johnny, Glen, and Greg Graves; four granddaughters, Lindsay and Kailee Renwick; and Anabeth and Audrey Graves; along with numerous other family members and friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and home health who have provided care and support throughout the years.
Memorial services are scheduled for Sunday, September 22, 2024; at 2:00 pm at Bellaire Baptist Church in Bossier City, LA at 1210 Bellaire Blvd. Pastor Randy Harper and Pastor Rick McDonald officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to donate to The National Kidney Foundation in memory of Danny Lee Graves.
