Charles Frederick Scholz

Charles Frederick Scholz, 70, passed away on February 26, 2023.  Charlie was born October 18, 1952 to George and Lorretta Scholz in Shreveport, Louisiana.  He graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1970 and Northeast Louisiana University (now ULM) in Monroe in 1975 with a degree in Criminal Justice.  Except for a brief time in Alexandria and Lake Charles while working for Squires Formalwear, he spent most of his life in the Shreveport and Benton with a distinguished career serving the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Department and the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Department for over 30 years combined. 

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Julie Scholz Lewis.  He is survived by his nephews Chris Cypher and Eric Cypher, his niece Katie Lawrence Smiley, his Goddaughters Heather Bethley Sullivan and Jamie Bethley Carter, and close friend Ramonalynn Bethley and her husband Rusty.  In true Charlie fashion we will celebrate his life with a reception at Benton Methodist Church, 4615 Palmetto Road in Benton Louisiana on April 15, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm with brief words of memorial at 5:00 p.m.
