Charles Edward Bates

Charles Edward Bates passed away from this life on June 3, 2024. He was 84 years old. A Memorial & Visitation will be held Friday June 14, 2024 between the hours of 1:00pm-3:00pm at Boone Funeral Home in Bossier City.

Charles Edward Bates was born on September 19, 1939. He was the youngest son of Nash and Ida Mae Bates. Charles spent his whole life residing in the Cooper Road area in Shreveport, LA.

In his early years, Charles married Elizabeth Jones Bates. From that union, three children were born.

Charles' life revolved around his family and friends. He was a strong-willed man at times, but he had a loving heart and a good sense of humor. He was a loyal friend to many. He was clever and full of knowledge that he gained throughout his life experiences.

Charles is survived by his children, Charles Bates Jr., Carl (LaDana) Bates, Frances (Jamie) Bates Lejay, Cynthia Bates, grand-children, great-grandchildren, step-children, god-children, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends near and far.

Charles' siblings, Floyd Bates, Clem Calloway, Herbert Young, Frances Bates, Rosie Lee Jack, Marie Diggs, Anna Mae Jackson, and Gertrude Williams have all preceded him in death
