Brenda Carol Levinson, 79, received her angel wings on September 7, 2023. Brenda was born in Crossett, AR on February 20, 1944.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, father Roland Stillwell Pruett and mother Nell Dorothy Lloyd Pruett, her sister Donna Gail Rawls and niece Wendy Rawls Westbrooks, and her brother Roland “Ronnie” Stillwell Pruett, Jr. She is survived by loving daughter, Jennifer Anne Levinson and grandson, Eli Malcolm Calhoun, her former husband, Bill Levinson, and special friends, Sandy Putman and Michele Duet.
Following high school, Brenda graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Marketing. She earned her Master of Business Administration at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Her career spanned across regional and multi-state businesses, earning her the reputation for being a “synergist” in many business deals.
She retired in 2018 following a 13-year career as the Deputy Port Director at the Caddo-Bossier Port. Brenda was recognized as being one of the best Economic Developers in northwest Louisiana and was the driving force in bringing national and international companies to the Shreveport-Bossier area including Pratt Industries, Benteler Steel Tube, and Ronpak. As Deputy Port Director, she was responsible for the direct oversight of the multimodal transportation and distribution center. Her constant focus and dedication were industry growth and job creation for the families of northwest Louisiana.
Brenda had the ability to form instant relationships and touched many lives both personally and professionally, and best said by a special friend and business colleague, “Few people have an impact in your life…she was one of them in mine”. She was a past board member and active volunteer for the March of Dimes and was a St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital supporter. She was a committee member for several years for the local St. Jude “Miracles on the Red” fundraising Charity Gala.
A special place in her heart was reserved for her grandson, Eli. He brought many years of joy and happiness in her life. To Eli, she said “I will always love you to the moon and back”.
A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 11:00 am at Boone’s Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
