Bobby Joe Montalbano, Sr. was born in Shreveport, LA on February 13, 1956 to Vince P. and Dorothy Barr Montalbano and passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at home in Plain Dealing, LA.
Bobby graduated from Airline High School in 1974 and enlisted in the US Navy in that same year and served until 1976. He also served in the US Navy Reserves and National Guard. He followed in his father’s footsteps and worked for the KCS Railroad where he retired after 20 years of service beginning in 1976. He also studied and became a phlebotomist where he worked for Bossier Medical Center.
He joined the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Department in 1995 as a Deputy and served in this capacity for 20 years retiring in 2015. His last assignment was as Director of Chaplain Security at David Wade Correctional Institute in Homer, La beginning in 2016 and retiring in 2018.
He was a notary and a long-haul truck driver. He enjoyed spending time fishing and riding motorcycles. He loved cats and spending time in the country.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Vince and Dorothy Montalbano; his paternal grandparents, Jake and Vita Montalbano; maternal grandparents, Murdick and Ida Cooper Barr; his brother, Jack P. Montalbano and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Valerie; sons, Vincent Paul Montalbano and Bobby Joe Montalbano; stepsons, Joshua and Jacob Blandino; step granddaughter, Annabeth Maxine; brother, Ronnie Montalbano; sisters, Jean Manceaux (Darrell), and Sherry Cobbs (Charles); aunts, Rosemary Finley and Joan Montalbano; uncle, Tony Montalbano; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be greatly missed.
A private service will be held at a later date. Bobby will be buried with full military honors at the Northwest LA Veteran’s Cemetery in Keithville, LA.
