Billy Joe Simmons

Billy Joe Simmons, age 87 of Springhill, Louisiana passed away on October 25, 2018.  Billy Joe was born August 5, 1931 in Delhi, LA to Joseph and Nobie McKinnis Simmons.  He was a United States Navy Veteran and served in the Korean Conflict.  Hunting, fishing and watching LSU football were things that he enjoyed.  He retired from International Paper Company where he worked in the bleach plant.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Janice Bartlett Simmons and sister, Betty Dennis.

He is survived by one son, David Simmons of Springhill, LA, one daughter, Donna Ryan of Shreveport, one brother, C.G. “Buddy” Simmons and wife Barbara of Springhill, one sister, Sue Gentine and husband Marc of Friendswood, TX; grandsons Jayce Simmons, Clint Duke and wife Nicole, Jeffrey Duke and wife Amy and Murphy Ryan.  Great grandchildren Brady Simmons and Ty and Ava Grace Duke.

A special thanks from the family to Uncle Buddy and Aunt Barbara for their love and support to our Father.  Their love and care meant so much and Dad treasured his friendship with his brother.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 Monday, October 29, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Springhill, LA with Bro. Ronald Morgan officiating.  Private interment will follow at Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home.
