Billy Grey Rockett, 83, of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away following a long struggle with cancer on May 20, 2023. He was born July 12, 1939, in Bernice, Louisiana to H.D. and Lucille Rockett.
Billy spent most of his childhood in Jonesboro, Louisiana; joined the Army National Guard of Louisiana; then entered the U.S. Air Force in 1958 from which he received an Honorable Discharge in 1960. Returning to Jonesboro after service, he met Claudia Stewart, who would become his wife of 60 years.
Billy’s work experience centered on business management and training within the pest control industry. Relocation was often necessary, enabling him and Claudia to experience and appreciate the beauty and culture of our country. He later portrayed these scenes in beautiful oil paintings.
Billy was active in civic affairs and in his local church where he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. After the move to Bossier City, he and Claudia became members of Cypress Baptist Church and the senior Sunday School.
Billy enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers, cousins, and friends. Colorado was a favorite spot where his hunting friends named him “#1 Colorado Cook”! Yes, he was a good cook too.
Billy is preceded in death by his father H.D. Rockett; mother, Lucille Boyd; stepfather, W.P. Boyd; infant daughters (Angela and Stacy); sister-in-law, Cara Rockett; and brother-in-law, Larry Lowe.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Claudia; his sister, Martha Ann Lowe; his brother, Chesley (Marilyn); his brother, Rickey; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Tunnel to Towers.
Special Thanks to: J. Houston Bosley, MS; Anil Veluvolu, MD; WK Cancer Center; St. Joseph Hospice; Brother Tommy Patton and Cypress Baptist Church.
