Graveside Services celebrating a life of faithful government service will be held for Billy Ray Moore of Shreveport, LA on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Northwest Louisiana Veteran's Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Road, Keithville, LA 71047. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy Chaplain and members of the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
Billy was born January 28, 1946 in Magnolia, AR His parents were William Talmadge Moore and Ola Lee Moore. He graduated from Magnolia High School and attended Southern State University in Magnolia as well as Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA.
Billy was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served 6 years in the U.S. Navy. After his honorable exit from the navy, he continued his career in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. His career spanned twenty years. During that time he received numerous awards. He was named top engineer for the entire Lower Mississippi Valley Division. He was assigned to many places including multiple terms of duty in Iraq.
Billy was a very private person, but he did have hobbies which included crappie and bass fishing.
He was preceded in death by bother parents and brother Charles Moore and his wife Sandy. Left to cherish his memories is his sister Evalene Smith and her husband Melvin and one brother Merle Moore and a host of family and friends.
