Billy Mac passed away November 28, 2022 in Shreveport, LA. He was born on July 24, 1937 in Burke, TX to Richard G. McClendon and Eula Stanaland.
Graveside services with military honors will be held 1:00 PM Monday, December 5, 2022 at Northwest Louisiana Veteran’s Cemetery in Keithville, LA.
Daddy had strong opinions on many things, especially politics and government. He dreamed big ideas (some good and some not so good), had common sense and could fix almost anything. He even lived in his own tree house in Bossier.
Billy served in the 82nd Airborne and the 917th at Barksdale AFB. He also served in the Air Force reserves and the U.S. Army reserves, retiring as command Sgt. Major. Dad also trained as an air traffic controller but left that field to serve in the Justice Department as a Deputy U.S. Marshall. Additionally, he worked with the Lufkin, TX Police Department in the late 1950’s and the Bossier City Police Department in the 1960’s. He also formed the first sky diving club in Louisiana.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, by his brothers, Archie and Buddy, granddaughter DruAnn Dubois and son-in-law George Herzog.
Left to cherish everlasting memories are daughters Nancy Herzog of Montgomery, TX and Gayla Dubois of Benton, LA; granddaughter, Libby Dubois of Benton, LA; great grandchildren Andrew (Drew) and Caroline Phillips of Benton, LA.
A special thanks to Azalea Estates of Shreveport for their kindness and care during Dad’s stay there.
