Bossier City, LA- Services for Mr. Billy Ray Jones, age 77, will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 5th, 2016, at the Boone Funeral Home Chapel on Airline Drive in Bossier City, LA, with Reverend Dr. Carl Rhoads officiating.
Mr. Jones was born on January 7, 1939 to Gervie and Josie Jones in Coushatta, LA and passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016 in Bossier City. Billy attended Coushatta High School and then enlisted in the United States Army. He served in numerous assignments before transferring to the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country before retiring in 1980 after 21 years of service. After retiring from the military, he began his second career as an insurance agent with Transworld Insurance and later the Security Plan Life and Fire Insurance Company. He loved his job and was highly respected by his coworkers and his customers.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 55 years, Christa Jones. Also surviving him are two sons, Michael Wayne Jones and partner, Amber Colby of Benton, and Thomas Lee and wife Denise Jones of Ocean Springs, MS; and daughter Monika Helen and husband Rodney Carter of Columbus, OH; five grandchildren, Crystal Tabares, and Andrew Jones, both of Bossier City, Amber Jones of Uniontown PA, Nathan Jones, of Spangdahlem, Germany, and Allen Jones, of Ramstein, Germany; eight great-grandchildren; and three nephews, Kevin, Kenneth, and Keith Jones.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bobby Lee Jones.
Billy served many roles in his life; devoted son, faithful brother, soldier, airman, and agent, and most importantly, husband, father, grandfather and, great-grandfather. He will be remembered by all as a faithful Christian man with a wonderful sense of humor, a kind heart, and complete devotion to his family. He will be greatly missed.
