Alice Provost Bogdanchik

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Alice Claire Giroux Provost Bogdanchik, died on May 29, 2024, after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.  She was 81 years old.

Alice was our Mom, our Memere, and she was the heart of our home and family.  She was born May 27, 1943 in Holyoke, MA, to Henri E. Giroux and Annette F. Roy.

Our mother possessed many talents including art, music, and poetry-writing.  She won an honorable mention award for her poem entitled A Child’s Last Wish and loved to sing along with Patsy Cline.  She was an avid lover of animals, especially dogs, cats, and birds.  As the wife of Roger J. Provost, US Marine Corps, she maintained the home while he completed three tours in Vietnam. She considered her finest work to be the raising of her five children Diane (Pang), Roger (Debra), Brian (Cheryl), Kelly (James McGee), and Daniel(Tammy).  Her children will remember her as a nurturer, always ready with a comforting word.

She was also married to George Bogdanchik and settled in Kannapolis, NC.  As a grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, she showered love, attention, and much support.  She helped to create some of our best memories on yearly trips to the beach and through much humor and great conversation.  Our mom was known for her kind heart, her incredible zeal for life, and her tenacity.  She was the heart and soul of our family, and she will be dearly missed.

Left to celebrate her life and legacy is her beloved brother Paul (Margie), and sister Cecile (Ed), who will always cherish her memory. Preceding her in death are her parents and brother, Roland, and sisters Theresa and Pauline, son-in-law, Dennis Pang, and beloved granddaughter, McKenzie. Alice’s final resting place will be in Boone, NC, with a burial service to be held at a later date.

The family would like to express thanks to the Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home staff, Gentiva Hospice staff, Success Adult Day Care, and special friend Mrs. Helen Wright.
