Al Jewel Myles Sr. was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was born on April 9, 1956, in Shreveport, Louisiana to James and Doris Myles. He left this world after a lengthy illness on December 18, 2024, at age 68.
Al graduated from Captain Shreve High School in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1975. He served several years in the United States Army Reserves.
Al was employed by the Louisiana Housing Authority from 1976 – 1984. He moved to Houston, Texas, in 1984 and retired from L & M Management after 21 years. Al was baptized at an early age at Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Shreveport Louisiana and was a member until his death. His love and joy of music expanded over many years, and he loved football.
He was preceded in death by his father James Myles, son Sirterrance L. Myles, sister Danielle Stewart-Smith, and brothers Jonathon C. Myles and Jacoby Stewart, Sr. Al is survived by his mother, Doris S. Myles, and his daughters, Zosia Myles, Alvina Myles, Sandraal Myles, and Kiante (Mark) Mitchell; his sons, Al (Crystal)Myles Jr. Octavis D Henderson and Ketavis L Henderson; his sister, Shundon L. Anderson and brother, Jackie Mayes; his closest relatives; niece Elaine Majors and cousin Terry Lubom. He leaves a special friend Debra Taylor. He also leaves behind twenty grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
