Ruth Gallien

Helen Ruth Harper Gallien, age 86, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2007. She was born October 15, 1921 in Shreveport, LA and attended Fair Park High School, graduating in 1939 with many honors. She won the honor of being elected Miss Shreveport at the Labor Day Beauty Pageant in 1938. After marriage to Carson Reed Gallien, and becoming a mother, she also won the title of Mrs. Shreveport, in 1940. Ruth was a beauty both inside and out. She will be missed by many friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by one son, Reed Gallien, her husband Carson Reed Gallien, parents; Mr. and Mrs. Milton R. Harper, and one sister; Nellie Sue Harper Seago. She is survived by her son John Gallien and wife Debbie of Logansport, LA, daughter Merribeth Shepherd and husband Robert of Wichita KS, brother; James Milton Harper and wife Doris of Shreveport LA, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held Monday, December 31, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Ford Park Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA.
