Funeral services for Mr. Richard Ray Nolen, Sr. will be held in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home, Bossier City, on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. Father Karl Daigle will be officiating the service. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 12-2 p.m. on Wednesday. Mr. Nolen passed away May 20, 2007, in Shreveport, LA.
He was born on September 13, 1923, in Bernice, LA. Mr. Nolen spent his life in the used automobile sales industry. He established and operated Nolen Motor Company, in Shreveport, over 60 years ago with his two brothers, one being his twin. He then entered into a partnership to bring the Tucker Dealership to Shreveport during the end of WWII, which was a great accomplishment for a young man in the late 1940's. Mr. Nolen went on to establish Nolen Enterprises in 1972 which sold aircraft to both companies and individuals all over the country. Mr. Nolen was a pilot for over 40 years, and was a member of the Used Car Dealer's Association. He loved to paint on anything he could, and was constantly working on his cars. Mr. Nolen will be remembered as a friend to many who always enjoyed a game of cards, and was a extremely hard worker all his life.
He is survived by his loving wife Sue Nolen; children: Richard Ray Nolen, Jr., Mary Jo Kayser and husband Kim, Kevin Nolen and wife Bridget; sister Mozelle Nolen Andrews; brother James F. Nolen; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents: James and Manda Rhee Nolen; and two brothers: Doyle A. Nolen and Drew P.
