Rhita Hughes Burton

Services for Rhita Faye Hughes Burton will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 1, 2008 in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Norman Moore and Gerald Cheney. Graveside services will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Bradley, AR, on Wednesday at 4:30pm. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6-9 pm. Mrs. Burton was born on September 20, 1920, in Idaho and passed away September 27, 2008, in a local hospital following lengthy health problems. Mrs. Burton was preceded in death by her husband Haywood Paul Burton, her parents: Sam and Ester Dizmang Hughes, sister, Ruby Fern and a brother Jerry Hughes. She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Rhita enjoyed bible study, attending church, family gatherings, fishing, camping; she loved to travel and relished the outdoors. She was an avid birdwatcher carrying her binoculars and camera on every trip. She also liked spectator sports. She was a lifetime resident of East Texas and the Bossier City area and a member of Eastwood Church of Christ. She will be missed by family and friends. Pallbearers will be Bill Brock, David Cheney, Gary Burton, Jeremy Cheney, Jon Cheney, and Randy Camp.
