Nellie B. Aultman

d. April 30, 2020

Nellie Crow Aultman, beloved wife of Rev. George Aultman, peacefully passed away, Thursday, April 30, 2020 at St. Joseph Hospice Carpenter House in Shreveport, Louisiana, after a long battle with Diabetes and Alzheimer’s.  Nell was born in Cleveland, Mississippi on August 31, 1929 to Maurice and Versie Crow.

Years later she met Gerald at a revival and instantly knew they were a perfect match. After they married, Gerald continued his ministry at many churches in Mississippi and Louisiana, with Nell by his side.  They touched the lives of many people, who still stay in contact with Gerald.

Nell is preceded her in death by her parents; two sisters, Norma Amaral and Lola Alexander; and two brothers, Tommy Crow and “Baby Gene” Crow.

Nell is survived by her loving husband, Rev. George Gerald Aultman of Bossier City, Louisiana; sons, Patrick Green (Joy) of Dublin, Georgia, Randy Aultman (Peggy) of Covington, Louisiana; daughters, Judy Rambin of Bossier City, Louisiana and Candi Aultman of Jackson, Mississippi.  She is also survived by grandchildren, Kerri Coleman, Kristi Brewster, Kelli Hull (Dwayne), Brian Green (Nohemi), Jonathan Green, Jennifer Rider (Jeremy), Charlotte Kelly (Jon Ford), Rob Houston, Maggie Aultman, and Lauren Depriest.

She was beloved GiGi to her great-grandchildren, Justin (Ashley), Presti, Grasyn, Kylee, Rylee, Jackson G., Bryan, Alex, Naomi, Alayna, Logan and especially Jackson B. who from the age of five said “I’m going to take care of GiGi.”, and he and Logan did rolling her around Pilgrim Manor in her wheelchair.  Nell is also survived by two brothers, John Crow and Billy Crow (Barbara). Many nieces and nephews survive Aunt Nell.  She loved each and every one of them!  Family was very important to Nell, whether it be her family, her church family or anyone in need.  Her passion was church ministry alongside Bro. Gerald, GAs, and WMU women’s ministry.  She will be remembered by those who traveled on mission trips with her spreading the word of Jesus from the many churches that Bro. Aultman pastored.  She blessed so many lives during those times.  Nell leaves behind a countless number of friends who loved her and Bro. Gerald so much.  They enjoyed traveling together, and ministering together. But most of all they loved and enjoyed each other.

Nell will be best remembered for her delicious cooking, holiday meals and get-togethers, sewing, and gardening.  Her granddaughters remember spending time with her in the summer starting the day off with a home cooked meal and ending the day with a bowl of fruit and watching The Golden Girls.  Grandchildren have memories of Peps Point, vacation in Gulf Shores, Vacation Bible School, and having fun at the Jackson Zoo.  Her family remembers Nell always looking her best, with nails painted, makeup on, hair done weekly at a salon, jewelry, and fancy shoes.  Her laughter would bring smiles to everyone within ear shot.

Nell had been lovingly cared for the past 4 years by the wonderful staff at Pilgrim Manor Senior Care in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Nell’s legacy of love and compassion will continue on for many years through her family and the people who had the honor of knowing her.

Graveside services will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Brookhaven, Mississippi on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at 1:00 PM.  Due to the COVID pandemic and restrictions at this time, the family will observe a memorial service celebrating the wonderful life of Nell at a later date.
