Stonewall, LA - Charles A. Davis, better known as "Pops" or "Bonny" was born on July 12, 1933 in Greenville, MS, and passed away on September 26, 2013 in Stonewall at home surrounded by family. He was 80 years old. He retired the year before at 79 as a truck driver for Transport Services, who he considered his "2nd" family, as well his life-long friend Denny Rigdon who drove with him on numerous ventures.
Charles was in the Navy from 1949-1954, and served during the Korean Conflict on the U.S.S. Rooks as a Navy Seal. Charles was honored with the Korean Service Medal (2 Stars), the United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
Charles was preceded in death by wife Teresa Davis; father, Warren A. "Dad" Davis, mother, Jennie Lee Kern; brother, Warren A. "Sonny" Davis; son-in-law, James Albert Castie; and great-grandchild, Christopher Stampley; and his precious dog "Sugar".
Charles is survived by four children; Deborah Castie, Cynthia Davis, Richard "Pete" Davis and James "J.D." Davis, 22 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Davis and wife Susan; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM, October 13, 2013 at Boone Funeral Home, 3903 Meriwether Road, Shreveport.
