Mary Lee

d. October 29, 2018

Mary was born in Ipswich, England. She was the first of three sisters to come to America in 1960 as the wife of Jesse Judson Childs, Jr. (MSgt of the USAF), with her son Bobby.  They settled in Bossier City, LA, and with the exception of a short stay in Fort Worth, TX, where she remained until her passing on October 29, 2018.

Mary was blessed with a full life of family, friends and co-workers.  Always enjoying the company of others she began a career in retail working at Selber Brothers, then Neiman Marcus in Fort Worth and when returning to Bossier City she went to work for Western Electrical AT&T where she retired after a career of 20 years.  Not one to stand still, she returned to work for several years at Burlington Coat Factory before winding down to full retirement.

Mary balanced her life with many hobbies, bowling, throwing darts with friends at the local pub (Hey, Pudge), knitting many sweaters by the fireplace, being a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan from the 70’s, travelling to see many games and shouting “Go Cowboys” to anyone and everyone, and a favorite past time was betting on her ponies at the track.  However, the best times were spent cooking for family get-togethers especially Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Mary was predeceased by her first husband Jesse Childs, Jr. and her second husband Roy Rivet (Sgt, USAF) with whom she had a joyful but short lived marriage following his untimely passing from cancer.  Lastly James Lee (Lt. Col, USAF) and Mary would have a life of 30 years together before his passing in 2013.   Left to cherish her memory are her son Bobby; stepson, Jesse and his family; and many friends she made over her full lifetime.
