Bossier City-Lula passed peacefully on, Saturday, May 9, 2015. A celebration of life service for Lula Belle Owens Morris, 88, will be held on, Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Boone Funeral Home Shreveport, with Dr Larry Williams officiating. The family will welcome guest prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Lula was born October 29, 1926 in Monroe, LA. She is preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life CMSGT (RET) Charles E. Morris, her parents, siblings, Edgar, Carl Jackson (Jack) and R.L. Owens, Ruby Anderson and Othella Cox. Lula was involved in several organizations throughout her life. She was a member of the NCO Wives Club, NWLA Veteran's Home as an Auxiliary Rep., Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 5951, The Military Order of the Cooties, Air Force Sergeants Association, and the National Association of Federal Retirees. She was a volunteer for "Operation Stand Down" and the American Red Cross. Her favorite past time was playing BINGO. Lula never met a stranger, and would always tell you about her granddaughters.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Betsy Burke and husband Jim of Keithville, her granddaughters, who were her pride and joy, Jamie Burke of Nashville, TN and Kristen Burke of Shreveport, step granddaughter Michele Heard of Bloomburg, TX, her dearest friend Dawn Mrozek, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Alice Kijak for her visits, the staff at the Guest House and Gamble Hospice for the care of Lula. In lieu of flowers please donate to a Veterans association of your choice. Pallbears will be her nephews, John Owens, Michael Cox, Wayne Irvin, and Layne Irvin, great nephews, Joel Pellegrin, and Jay Owens and grand god son Drew Ullmer.
