Janey Haygood

Graveside services for Mrs. Janey Clark Haygood will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at 1:00 pm at HillCrest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends at Boone Funeral Home on Monday from 6-8 pm. Mrs. Haygood passed away Friday, September 26, 2008, in Bossier City. She was born on October 11, 1919, in Thomas, TX to O.C. and Virginia Culberson Clark, who precede her in death. Mrs. Haygood taught elementary school children for over 30 years in Bossier Parish, at both Waller and Kerr Elementary Schools. She touched many children's hearts and lives during that time period. Mrs. Haygood was a 40 year member of Delta Kappa Gamma. During her latter years, she enjoyed spending time at the Bossier Council on Aging, where she participated in the yearly Olympics they hosted. She also enjoyed dancing and other trips with the council. Mrs. Haygood was a lifelong Methodist who will be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Surviving her is her son: Dr. Gary Haygood of Vidalia, LA; daughter Cathy Hammel of Bossier City; daughter-in-law: Patricia High of Bossier City; grandchildren and their spouses: Robert and Jere Hammel of Austin, TX; Janey Marie Hammel Macey and David Macey of Bossier City; Lori Suzanne Haygood, Ryan Haygood, both of Bossier City; Hope and Isaac Haygood, both of Vidalia; great-grandchildren: Elise and Annabel Macey, Logan and Brenna Watts, and Blaine Hammel. She was preceded in death by her husband Horace W. Haygood, long-time friend Carl Manning, ten siblings, and a daughter-in-law: Sherie Haygood.
