Graveside services for L C Gentry will be held Thursday, December 27, 2007, at 11:00 am, at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Keithville, LA. Full military honors will be provided by Ft. Polk Army Honor Guard. The family will be receiving friends at Boone Funeral Home, 3903 Meriwether Rd., Shreveport, on Wednesday from 7-9 pm. Surrounded by his family, Mr. Gentry passed away December 21, 2007, in Shreveport.
He was born on April 12, 1930, in Ardmore, OK. Upon graduation L C joined the United States Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal while serving in Korea with the 179th Infantry. After retiring in 1971 from Ft. Polk, he joined General Electric DTBD. Retiring again in 1992, Toledo Bend became his second home. White Perch fishing, his third career. L C loved watching his children and grandchildren in all types of sports. He collected coins and arrowheads, and sculpted walking canes for others. You could always count on him to be fair, honest, and straight forward with you about anything.
He
is preceded in death by his parents: William and Dewey Gentry, and
siblings: Togo, John, Rufus, Bobby Jean, Jack, and twin babies.
Surviving
him is his loving wife of 54 years Jessie Gentry; their children and
spouses: Troy and Wanda Gentry, Pam and Robert Stoll, Philip Gentry and
Jaime Warren, Sally and Robert Wren; sister Wilda Crice and her husband
Bob, grandchildren: Troy, Jr., Ian, Damen, Jerred, Steve, Elizabeth,
Warren, Derek, Holly, Kameron; great grandchildren: Madisyn, Kaitlyn;
and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be members of the Ft. Polk Army Honor Guard.
