Effie Emmagene Velchoff joined her Lord and Savior in Heaven on Tuesday, September 10, 2019.

Funeral Mass for Emmagene is scheduled for Friday at 1pm at Boone Funeral Home in Bossier City, officiating is Father Karl Daigle from Saint Jude Catholic Church. Committal will follow at the Rose-Neath Cemetery.  Family will receive friends at 12pm.

Emmagene was born on January 29, 1936 to Mac and Grace McWaters in Vicksburg, Mississippi. In March of 1954 Emmagene married the love of her life, James “Jim” Velchoff.   They enjoyed 65 years of marriage together.  She was a devoted and loving Mother, Memaw, and Wife.

Emmagene was a member of the Bossier City Art Council where she shared her love of art with other senior citizens in the community, encouraging them to find their creative side. She also was the president of NCO Wifes Club at Barksdale Air Force Base for several terms.

Emmagene is proceeded in death by her parents Mac and Grace McWaters; grandmother, Emma Griffin; father in law, Steve Velchoff; mother in law Nila Velchoff; brother in laws, Steve Velchoff, Neidelo Velchoff, John Velchoff, William Velchoff, and sister in law, Annalee Velchoff.

Left to cherish Emmagene’s memory is her husband Jim Velchoff; daughters, Dawn Painter (Scott), Nancy Williams (Tom); sons, Michael  Velchoff (Phillis), Alex Velchoff (Marie), many beloved grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.   Emmagene impacted many lives. Her legacy will live on through many.
