David Clark Owen

David Clark Owen, 51, of Greenwood, Louisiana, passed away on September 20, 2018, in Shreveport, LA.

Visitation will be held at Open Range Fellowship (Cowboy Church) at 9950 US-80, Greenwood, LA on Sunday, September 23, 2018 between 5:00 PM-7:00PM. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Open Range Fellowship at 10:00 AM. Officiating will be Pastor Jerry Steele, of Pathways of the Cross Church.

David was born in Shreveport, LA to Jerry and Helen Owen, on October 28, 1966.  He graduated from Southwood High School in 1984.  David earned an Associate’s Degree in Mortuary Science.  After many years in the funeral industry, he transitioned to law enforcement, most recently serving eight years with the Greenwood Police Department, receiving many honors through the years.

David is preceded in death by his daughter, Bethanee, and his parents, Helen & Jerry Owen.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl, of Greenwood, LA; daughter, Leigh Ann Huff; brothers, Mike Owen and wife Sue, Mark Owen and wife Aimee; sister, Brenda McDaniel and husband James; grandson, Spencer Huff;  numerous nieces, nephews, and Brothers in Blue.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors and staff of Willis Knighton’s Transplant Center and Cardiac Care Unit. Despite David’s struggles, he remained optimistic and enthusiastic in his passion for life and in his work in law enforcement, especially in the area of drug interdiction. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Louisiana Organ Procurement Association.
