Charles W. Horton, age 81, passed away at Willis Knighton North in Shreveport, Louisiana surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 8, 2019. He was born on August 25, 1937 in Monticello, Arkansas to Melvin and Bernice Horton. This is where he spent his childhood and though his younger years were tougher than most, he grew to be "of age" and joined the U.S. Navy at 17, and started what would become a 21-year distinguished and decorated career - so much so, that at his retirement he had four officers in his current command try to make him offers to stay in another hitch or two. After the navy, Charles moved to East Texas where he would later meet the love of his life. They got married shortly after and spent 33 beautiful years together. Many people knew him as Chuck but the ones he loved dearly called him Dad, Roon, Pops, and Grampy. He was a God loving Christian man that attended
Bethany Baptist church with his wife and family for many years. His favorite past times were spending time with his family, gardening, and fishing. He loved taking his grandchildren on fishing trips and teaching them all of the little ends and outs of fishing.
He is survived by his beloved wife Sharon. Sisters: Ann and husband Bobby, Peggy. Sons: Charles W. Jr and wife Karen, David and wife Marla. Daughters: Jo-Nell and husband Wayne, Barby, Kathy and husband Dre. Grandchildren: Wayne, Olivia, Emily, Quinnon and husband Jeff, Levi and wife Jade, Jacob, Amanda, Lisa, Royce, Harleigh, Nicole and husband Cole, Chad and wife Andrea, Dana, Erica, Josh and wife Amanda, Keith, Adrian and husband Justin, Shannon and Ariel.
