Bossier City, LA ? Alan Douglas Brasher, passed away after a lengthy illness on February 17, 2012. He was born on November 12, 1954 in El Dorado, AR to Evie Meggs Brasher and Jewell T. Brasher. He grew up in El Dorado, AR. He graduated with a degree in English-Journalism from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. He worked at the El Dorado News-Times in El Dorado where he worked as Night News Editor. He moved to Shreveport in 1978 where he worked at The Times as a Copy Editor for many years. He is employed at the Walmart in Bossier City where he worked for many years. He was long-time resident in Bossier City, and attended First United Methodist Church of Bossier. Preceding him death are his parents and brother, Donald Brasher. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 35 years, Mary Ann; daughter, Karen Brasher; son, Stephen Brasher; granddaughter, Savannah Brasher; brother, Russell Brasher and wife Molly of Fort Smith, AR; sister-in-law, Charlotte Brasher of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family visitation will be at Boone Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA between 5:00 and 7:00 PM, Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Services will be held at Boone Funeral Home 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 22, 2012. Officiating will be Rev. David Dietzel of First United Methodist Church of Bossier City. Interment will follow in Rose Neath Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Griffin, Harry B. Morgan, Keith Gunter of El Dorado, Greg Kendrick, Edward Weiland of Bossier City and Evan Kostelka of Shreveport. The family would like to thank all of the staff of Willis-Knighton Cancer Center in Shreveport and all the doctors that worked with us. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in his memory to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, American Cancer Society, First United Methodist Church of Bossier City, or to your favorite charity.
