A History of Caring

Charles Boone
Our Founder

The first Boone Funeral Home was established in Bossier City, LA in November of 1972, by Charles and Margaret Anne Boone. The Boones expanded their funeral business in 1977 by operating North Louisiana's only Crematory as well as two full service florists. In 1993, the Boones saw the opportunity to provide that special Boone service to the families of Shreveport and opened a chapel in Shreveport across the street from Forest Park Cemetery West.

The Boone Funeral Home name is synonymous with dignity, care and service. The Boone family is concerned, of course, with the dignified preparation and burial of the deceased. But even more than that, Boone Funeral Home is concerned with the emotional healing of the living, supporting the bereaved during their time of grief and helping them to enter into a satisfying and fruitful life.

Our Staff’s Dedication to Respectful Care

A funeral, or memorial service, should provide family members and loved ones with the chance to reflect, remember, and celebrate a life well-lived. At Boone, our goal is to create exceptional services and experiences that fulfill the wishes of your loved one. Our experienced Funeral Directors provide guidance on the crucial first steps toward healing.

Ginger Hartman, CFSP
Location Leader

Ginger Hartman began her career in the funeral industry in 2001 as an office manager for another funeral home in the local area. After working in the industry for a short time, she decided that she wanted to help families at a more personal level and she then began her internship for her funeral director license. She was awarded her license in 2002 and began her career.

While working at the same funeral home and waiting on families, she was asked to obtain her insurance license and develop a prearrange program. She received her insurance license in 2003 in Louisiana and 2006 in Texas. While doing prearrangements and waiting on families she was again tasked with implementing a Community Development Program. The position was designed to get involved in local communities to promote the funeral home. She dove into the new task by developing group presentation and became an active member of the community.

In January 2009, Ginger joined the Boone team and has devoted her time to learning about different Veteran programs and promoting their importance. As a USAF Veteran and wife of an Army retiree, she truly believes in Veterans receiving the recognition they deserve.

Ginger not only holds Funeral Director and Embalmer licenses, she also holds a Life and Health Insurance license, is a Notary Public, has a Paralegal Certificate, a Real Estate license, and has an Associate Degree in Business Management.

Sonya Toney

F.C. Chamberlain, Jr.
Crematory Operator

F. C. is a licensed Crematory Operator, as well as a Funeral Assistant. This job consists of cremationa and assisting during gatherings.

After 45 years in sales, F. C. thought it was time to retire. But after about a year and a half without much responsibility, boredom set in. Then he was offered a position at the funeral home and accepted. He took this job because being helpful to families is what he does best and felt this would work out fine.

F. C. and his wife, Becky are actively involved in the Central Assembly of God. He leads singing and teaches an Adult Senior Sunday School Class. He and Becky have two children, Brett and Michelle, and five grandchildren.

“I feel that my love and compassion for teaching senior adults has helped me greatly in assisting families in time of need,” he says.

I began working for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as a screener at Shreveport Regional Airport and have been with them for over 10 years. I began working for Boone a couple of years ago when I met one of the crematory operators at the airport and we struck up a conversation about funeral homes. I had the pleasure of joining the staff shortly after. I regret that I didn't get into the funeral business when I was young. I feel I have a mission and a purpose in my life now, to be kind and helpful to families and friends that have lost a loved one. I love my work and the people I work with. This is a very kind, loving, and dedicated group of people. I am very honored to be involved with a company who also takes great pride in serving the Veteran's of this country.
