Mae Jackson

Mae H. Jackson passed away Monday, August 7, 2017 surrounded by family in Bossier City, Louisiana. She was born February 16, 1944 to the late Scott and Edith Jackson in Grenada, Mississippi. Mae accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 14 and was dedicated to doing God's work throughout her life. She moved to Wooster, Ohio as a teen and attended Wooster High School. After High School, she moved to Newark, New Jersey, where she lived and worked for RCA for over 4 years. While residing in New Jersey, Mae selflessly volunteered to clean the church where she attended, unbeknownst to many parishioners. She then returned to Wooster and worked at Rubbermaid for 23 years as faithful employee. She was a member of Pentecostal Temple C.O.G.I.C in Canton, Ohio. At Pentecostal Temple, Mae served in the Choir, Sunday School, and was the Homecoming Committee Chair. In 1976, Mae gave birth her "#1 Son," Shawn L. Jackson. Mae led prayer vigils in Wooster and Canton, Ohio, where she encouraged prayer for all students enrolled in both cities, because education was of utmost importance to her. Mae relocated to Bossier City, Louisiana in 2012 to be closer to her son, and grandchildren, "Princess Maya" and "Prince Shawn." Not long after moving to Louisiana, she became a member of Harvest Temple C.O.G.I.C. where she was a Church Mother, served on the Prayer Warriors Team, a member of the Women's Department, was active in Sunday School and led a satellite Bible study in her retirement community. Mae was beloved by both her church and extended families. She is preceded in death by her parents, Scott and Edith Jackson, two aunts, Hazel and Magnolia, three brothers, Junior, Wash, and Willie Jackson, as well as her sister Robie Crockett. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Shawn (Desiree) Jackson (Bossier City, LA), two grandchildren, Maya and Shawn Jackson II, brother, Walter (Constance) Jackson (Creston, OH), two sisters: Agnes Allen (Canton South, OH) and Janie Bailey (East Canton, OH), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mae will be fondly remembered by the many lives she touched. One of her biggest and proudest accomplishments was receiving her Missionary License. She traveled to South Africa with Evangelist, Marilyn Hickey to build a school and a church in Capetown. She volunteered for The American Red Cross and supported Hurricane Ike relief efforts in Jasper, TX. She had a big personality and even a bigger smile. She enjoyed being around her family, dancing, singing, and having a good time. Mae H. Jackson's passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
